Most fitness centers offer a variety of services and facilities.  Aside from the usual shower rooms and gym lockers, there are also fitness classes wherein a fitness instructor would facilitate a class of at least ten.

If you prefer to do your workouts alone, there are different kinds of exercise machines available for you to choose from that target specific zones of your body and other gym equipment good for cardiovascular workouts or fat burning.  Some gyms even include sports equipment.

Here are some of the popular fitness equipment being used.  One must remember that it takes some time for the muscles in your body to adjust to each exercise.   Slowly work your way towards to at least a 20 minute workout and increase the intensity of each exercise.

It is best if you consult with a fitness trainer to determine your stamina and heart rate for recommended workouts.  Improper workouts may cause strain and damage your health in the long run.

Elliptical trainers

You might see a row of these exercise machines together and generally preferred by fitness goers.  Sometimes it is also called a “crosstrainer” that positions users into a runlike motion without the added impact on the knee or joint.  Almost similar to bicycling except you are standing.

What makes it so popular is because it combines leg and arm movement in one workout.  You can also choose how intensive your workout can be by setting the intensity level.

Treadmills

Treadmills also offer a great workout for running or walking in one place.  A treadmill is a fitness equipment that has a long platform with a conveyor belt.  The belt moves opposite towards the person as he walks or runs depending on the settings he selected.  Some treadmills can also be elevated for a “slope” like movement which offers a more intense workout.

Many health enthusiasts do cardiovascular exercises as well on treadmills.  You may find some that have their own treadmills at home.

Bicycle Machines

This exercise machine resembles a bicycle however it cannot be moved.  You can get the same cycling-like routine from normal bicycles with options to adjust the intensity levels for amateur to professional cyclists.

These fitness machines are mostly used for warm ups before engaging in more intense workouts.  Not only it provides an effective cardiovascular workout but it minimizes the impact and stress on your joints.

Some physical rehabilitation clinics use these exercise machines for their patients.

Rowing Machine

Using a rowing machine may be hard at first however it provides an effective and thorough cardiovascular workout which also targets the muscles on your back.  It is a workout that is designed to simulate rowing in the water.

To use a rowing machine, you would need to push backward using your legs and torso while leaning back and holding the handles and move towards vice versa repeatedly.

Bar bells and Dumbbells

One of the easiest fitness equipments used in weight training.  It can also be considered as a sports equipment for weight lifting professionals.

Fixed or free weights are attached to a short or long metal bar which are lifted repeatedly that provides an exercise for the arm muscles such as biceps, triceps, forearm muscles, chest and shoulder muscles.

Using some of these exercise equipment regularly will surely be a benefit to your health and wellbeing.
